Description
'Vintage Hero' James Hunt is known to many a motorsport enthusiast. Known for his success in Formula 1, for his rowdy lifestyle and for his charm. Hunt debuted in Formula 1 in 1973 with the Hesketh team. Hesketh had been founded by a wealthy businessman who got on very well with James Hunt. In the second season, Hunt took his first victory with this team at the Grand Prix of Holland, at Zandvoort.
After 3 seasons of Hesketh, Hunt signed a contract at McLaren where he immediately became champion work in his first season. Especially in the 2nd half of the season, Hunt drove rock solid, while Lauda dropped points after his recovery from the big crash at the Nurburgring. During the final race at Japan's Fuji circuit, Hunt managed to secure the championship by 1 point difference by taking a lot of risk during this completely rained-out race.
Artist Tom Havlasek has managed to capture the vintage atmosphere with this portrait. As far as we are concerned, this is therefore one of his best works.
