The Porsche 917 is an iconic racer with victories on LeMans in '70 and '71. The design was very progressive for that time because of its aluminiumtubes frameof only 50 Kg. For the propulsion Porsche selected for the coupling of two 911 motors. This resulted in in a 4.5 liter V12 engine with in a total of 520 hp. The drivers were very pleased with the 917 and especially the 'long tail' succeeded. in to break a lot of speed records. The record on LeMans by Gijs van Lennep from 1971 is a good example of this.
The French artist Stephane Dufour has found a very idiosyncratic way to immortalize iconic models. It starts with making the basic design, which is completely made of clay. Using the clay design, a mould is created, which is later used to create a small and limited series. The coloured resin is poured into inthe mould and, after curing, the product is carefully sanded to obtain a completely smooth surface.
The designs are unique in its kind and have a strong premiumappearance, ideal for in living room, study room or office.
