The Ferrari 312P was introduced at in 1969 as a reaction to the new Group-6 Sportscar regulations. Its performance was mixed, but started well with pole position and second place on its debut at Sebring with Mario Andretti. During the Le Mans tests, it soon became clear that the initial open design was not up to the task of resisting the Porsche 917s on the straights of the Mulsanne Straight. Therefore, the coupe version was soon released, which in addition to speed gains also provided a dazzling design. Victories were won at in Sebring and Daytona, but they had to acknowledge their supremacy in the Porsche 917 at leMans.
The French artist Stéphane Dufour has deveoped a very special way for remaking iconic supercars. It starts with making the basic design, which is completely manufactured in clay. The small series of each design is made from a colored cast resin, which takes the right shape via a mould. After curing, the product is carefully sanded and polished to get a completely smooth surface.
The designs are unique in of their kind and have a strong premium appeal, ideal for in study room or office. This Ferrari 312P Sculpture is one of his latest creations.
