Description
During the 1985 Formula 1 season, McLaren and Williams were the 'teams to beat'. Lotus was the 4th team and unfortunately already lacked the speed and charm it had in the successful 60s and 70s. Yet the 1985 season was different because they had recruited a young driver who had his debut at Toleman in 1984.
Ayrton Senna often showed himself at the front during his first season with Lotus and even managed to secure his second race for Lotus as his victory at the Estoril circuit. Later that season, he also won the GP of Belgium at SPa-Francorchamps. This victory at Spa proved to be his first of a total of five wins at this circuit.
