Description
Tom Havlasek's masterpieces often start with a beautiful image. An Image of a great champion, overtaking action or other memorable moment. He is inspired by the stories behind the drivers and Gilles Villeneuve also gripped him.
In 1977, Villeneuve was a test driver at McLaren where he was allowed to fill in for 2 races. in 1978, he was able to drive for the Ferrari team and won at his home race at the Montreal circuit. Over the next few years, he won a total of 6 races and made himself known mainly for his 'do or die' driving style. Villeneuve always went flat out and, as a result, did not always get along well with his team mates. Emotions ran high between him and Didier Pironi, among others, after the Imola GP where Pironi ignored team orders and overtook Villeneuve to run away with victory. Villeneuve decided never to exchange another 1 word with Pironi, which he unfortunately took very literally.
On 8 May 1982, Gilles Villeneuve retaliated at the Zolder circuit during the last qualifying session.
