Limited Edition Canvas: jim clarkinhis Lotus49 during the Dutch GP at Zandvoort
The Lotus 49 had its debut during the race at Zandvoort. Graham Hill put the car on pole well ahead of team mate Jim Clark who had to start from 8th place. After the start Clark fought his way to the front and felt better and better in the all new Lotus 49. Halfway through the race Hill crashed out with a technical problem and Clark eventually took over the lead. After 90 laps Jim Clark had a lead of 23 seconds on Jack Brabham and Danny Hulm.
The Lotus49 eventually took part in the official Formula 1 championship for more than 4 years. Of the 42 races, the in a total of 12 won. In addition, the team was in The most powerful both in 1968 and 1970 and was won by Gaham Hill and Jochem Rindt in the drivers' championship.
